Do you remember the Maserati that used to race and win on race circuits? And the splendour of the 1957 250F driven by Juan Manuel Fangio? Those years of healthy competition in Emilia made the name of Italian motoring great worldwide.
Maseratiβs history is full of Granturismo and Race cars, elegant and refined like the iconic Tipo61 Birdcage or the Tipo151, to name a few, ready to stir the crowds as they raced past and still haunting the sleep of collectors all over the world. And now, after having recently enchanted us with the MC12 and MC20 super sports cars, the house of the trident has announced its latest creation: Project24.
A splendid all-track GT destined exclusively for 62 enthusiasts. A concentrate of mechanical, carbon and aerodynamic know-how transmits pure adrenalin through a body that tips the scales at 1250kg. Its dynamic lines draw generous air intakes to cool the MC20-derived Neptune V6 engine, boosted to 740 hp with a power-to-weight ratio of around 1.69 kg/hp.
Fluid surfaces shape aerodynamic attachments, spoilers and extractors and many small details were all carefully created to dominate the air flows generated around Project 24. The result is a dynamic model from a stationary start, a synthesis of perfect harmony between tradition and innovation.
The design comes from the work of Centro Stile Maserati, the same authors of the recent MC 20, the Grecale and the Granturismo recently presented, a group of passionate designers led by Klaus Busse. For the exterior, the stylistic research associates the brandβs typical elegance with performance; a result also achieved thanks to a close synergy with the aerodynamic engineers.
The graphics and colours will follow the Maserati Fuoriserie programme and will be created according to customer requests. The cockpit has a racing layout with screens informing the driver of all the carβs customisable settings. It has been emptied of superfluous items to optimise weight in exchange for a race-type seat and a fire extinguisher.
The name Project24 is still being determined. Still, the opening of orders has sparked the attention of collectors from all over the world. According to rumours, it seems that the Project24s are almost all assigned, confirming that Maserati has once again struck a chord with enthusiasts.
Pure Modena essence, projected into the future.
